NASHVILLE, Tenn.—Byron “Mr. Talkbox” Chambers, Dove Award-winning vocalist/multi-instrumentalist/songwriter and former longtime member of TobyMac’s Diverse City band, joins a roster of many of music’s most celebrated talents contributing to the acclaimed self-titled debut recording by Nathan East, America’s preeminent bassist. Featuring performances by Stevie Wonder, Eric Clapton, Sara Bareilles and Michael McDonald, among others, Nathan East debuted at #1 on Billboard magazine’s Current Contemporary Jazz chart, as well as claiming the top position on the iTunes Jazz chart, following its March 25 release on the Yamaha Entertainment Group label.
The recording’s lead single, “Daft Funk,” featuring Chambers and including contributions by legendary session guitarist Ray Parker, Jr., is currently #2 on Billboard’s Smooth Jazz chart. The song is East’s ode to the GRAMMY®-winning album he helped record with Daft Punk.
Joining a star-studded lineup of music luminaries at a special event celebrating Nathan East, to be held April 16 at Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts in Los Angeles, Chambers will open the evening performing selections from his own recordings.
Audiences across the country will be able to hear Chambers live as he opens multiple dates for Dove Award-winning Word recording artist Chris August next month. Later this spring and summer, he will appear at Camp Electric and various festivals, including Sonrise Music Festival and Lifest. In addition, Chambers will be a featured performer at Alive Festival, where he and his wife Tamara will also serve as hosts and speakers.
Vocalist/multi-instrumentalist/songwriter/producer Byron “Mr. Talkbox” Chambers is one of the most sought-after performers in music today. A key member of TobyMac’s Diverse City band from 2009–2014, Chambers is featured on TobyMac’s GRAMMY® Award-winning Eye On It, in addition to appearing on the artist’s Gold-selling recordings Diverse City, Portable Sounds and Tonight. He garnered a Dove Award for Rap/Hip-Hop Recorded Song of the Year as co-writer of Group 1 Crew’s “Movin’,” and has also appeared on recordings by O-Town and Martha Munizzi, as well as Isaac Carree’s #1 Billboard Gospel single, “In The Middle.” As a soloist, Chambers has garnered five #1 singles on iTunes Japan.
Prior to joining Diverse City, Chambers performed as keyboardist for multi-platinum pop icons *NSYNC, Britney Spears and Gloria Estefan, as well as Gospel’s legendary Mighty Clouds of Joy.
